In recent years, Colombia has undertaken a determined digital transformation of the construction sector, marked by the implementation of the National BIM Strategy 2020\u20132026, led by the national government. This policy establishes the gradual adoption of the Building Information Modeling (BIM)<\/strong> methodology as a mandatory requirement for public and co-financed infrastructure projects starting in 2026\u00b9. This transition is driven by recognition of BIM\u2019s significant potential to deliver efficiency, quality control, and sustainability throughout all stages of a project\u2019s life cycle. <\/span><\/p>\n

Although adoption has been more evident in the real estate sector, linear infrastructure\u2014such as roads and airports\u2014has posed greater challenges. One of the most significant milestones in the modernization process led by C & M has been its participation in the Boquer\u00f3n \u2013 El Tabl\u00f3n road project, a strategic intervention within the Bogot\u00e1 \u2013 Villavicencio corridor, which is vital for mobility and competitiveness in central Colombia. The structuring of 31 kilometers of new roadway crosses areas of high geotechnical complexity and incorporates tunnels, bridges, intelligent transportation systems, and hydraulic works.<\/span><\/p>\n

In this case, BIM implementation was not marginal but became the central integrating axis of the entire technical process. From the feasibility stage onward, a BIM Execution Plan (BEP) was developed, establishing an interoperability strategy based on open formats such as IFC (Industry Foundation Classes<\/em>), rigorous interdisciplinary coordination grounded in performance indicators following methodological application, and the use of a Common Data Environment.<\/span><\/p>\n
